A former Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputy and former part-time officer with the Cherry Valley Police Department has been charged with stalking and official misconduct.
Tyler C. Bryan, 33, of Cherry Valley, faces two counts of stalking, a class 4 felony, and two counts of official misconduct, a class 3 felony.
The charges stem from a complaint received by the Cherry Valley Police Department, the Illinois State Police state in news release. Cherry Valley officials requested assistance from the state police in March.
The reported offenses occurred over multiple years while Bryan was both on and off-duty serving in his roles with Cherry Valley Police and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, the release states.
Bryan has resigned from both departments. He turned himself into the sheriff’s office on May 8.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed, the release states. Any other possible victims or individuals with information pertaining to Bryan or these crimes is asked to contact state police 815-987-7300.
