The Boone County Coroner’s Office has identified a pedestrian killed in a crash June 28 on U.S. Route 20 east of Shattuck Road.
Donald E. Ruf, 63, of Belvidere, was hit by an eastbound 2002 Freightliner semi and killed, according to information from Boone County Coroner Rebecca Wigget.
The truck driver remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with an investigation.
Preliminary results of an autopsy conducted June 30 show the cause of death to be from injuries suffered in the crash.
Boone County Sheriff’s Department and coroner’s office personnel continue to investigate.
