Bears have the most explosive offense this season

The Chicago Bears are riding a four-game winning streak, tied for the longest in the NFL, where head coach Ben Johnson has his team rolling after an 0-2 start.

While the Bears defense has been one of the pleasant surprises during this four-game winning streak, the offense has been quite explosive at times. Whether it was the passing game before the bye week or the rushing attack after the bye, Johnson’s offense is showing progress through just the first six games.

In fact, the Bears have the most explosive offense through the first seven weeks, according to Marcus Mosher, who’s tallied every team’s “big plays” that go for 10+ rushes or 20+ receptions. Chicago has 48 big plays in six games, averaging eight big plays per game. They’ve had more big run plays (27) than receptions (21).

In last week’s 24-16 win over the New Orleans Saints, the Bears had 12 big plays — three pass plays of 20-plus yards and nine run plays of 10-plus yards, including an 11-yard touchdown run by D’Andre Swift.

The Bears offense remains a work in progress in their first season under Johnson, but they’ve shown potential both in the passing game and, most recently, the run game. If Chicago can limit the penalties, which have been their Achille’s heel, and find consistency across the board, this offense has the potential to be great.
