Bears-Eagles sets ratings record on Black Friday

The Chicago Bears bullied the Philadelphia Eagles on Black Friday, winning 24-15, and a record number of people tuned in to witness it.

Prime Video’s third installment of their annual Black Friday game turned out to be the best ever, as the highly anticipated Bears-Eagles matchup averaged 16.33 million viewers, according to Amazon via Richard Deitsch. That is 3 million more than last year’s viewership of the Kansas City Chiefs against the Las Vegas Raiders, making this the most-viewed game on Black Friday yet.

After a couple of lackluster matchups over the last two years, the NFL lucked out with a great matchup. Both the Bears and Eagles came in with records of 8-3 and were leading their respective divisions. The Bears controlled the game from start to finish with a punishing ground game and timely turnovers while a chorus of boos rained down from the Philly faithful at Lincoln Financial Field targeting the hometown Eagles.

Last week’s Black Friday game was also the first NFL game to stream globally with no Prime subscription or membership required. It was available in over 240 countries and territories. According to Front Office Sports, it was the most-watched sporting event on Black Friday since 1991.
