An Ulta Beauty location in Illinois permanently shut its doors on June 14, adding its name to the long list of businesses closing down so far this year.

Where did Ulta close in Illinois?
The Ulta located at 1107 South Delano Court in Chicago’s Roosevelt Collection closed on June 14, according to a company spokesperson.
Why did Ulta close its store in Chicago?
Though the chain hasn’t announced an exact reason for the closure, Ulta CEO Kecia Steelman revealed during a March call with analysts that the retailer has struggled to keep up with demand, according to the U.S. Sun.
“The competitive environment in beauty has never been more intense,” Steelman reportedly said.
Though Ulta’s financial reports show the chain’s sales fell 1.9% between the fourth quarter of FY2023 and FY2024, they rose 4.5% between the first quarter of FY2024 and FY2025.
Are all Ulta stores closing?
The chain hasn’t announced plans to shut down any further locations. In fact, the beauty retailer said in an October 2024 press release that it plans to open 200 new stores over the next three years.
