Going into the No. 8 Florida State Seminoles’ Week 5 game against the Virginia Cavaliers, the team that went 2-10 last season has once again started undefeated, mirroring their 2023 season at 3-0. They now prepare to face a team they have not faced in ACC play since 2019.
Florida State’s record vs. Virginia is 15-4 lifetime, as they have met exclusively in ACC play. Their first matchup in 1992, and the first three for that matter, went to the Seminoles before Virginia was finally able to notch a victory against them in Charlottesville in 1995, becoming the first ACC team to beat them.
In their last 10 matchups, the Seminoles are 7-3, with the most recent match being a frustrating 31-24 loss at Virginia, back when the program was in the midst of a half-decade stretch of mediocrity. Prior to that, their last meeting was in 2014, and the Seminoles won, 24-20.
Friday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff from Scott Stadium in Charlottesville. Fans can watch the game on ESPN.
