IF LANGE WINS
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Boosted by the endorsement of three sitting School Board members, newcomer Tom Lange easily defeated incumbent Jacqueline Rosario, trying for her third term in the School Board District 2 seat, according to final, unofficial results.
Lange, a former Sebastian River High School teacher who now works in the private sector helping districts with technology curriculum, had been supported by three sitting School Board members as well as educators throughout the district against the two-term incumbent, who often voted in the minority on the dais.
IF ROSARIO WINS
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two-term School Board incumbent Jacqueline Rosario defeated challenger Tom Lange, a political newcomer supported by the School Board majority and educators, for the District 2 School Board seat.
Rosario, who often found herself in the minority on the School Board dais, had strong support from district critics and the now defunct Indian River County chapter of the Moms for Liberty.
GENERAL INFORMATION NO MATTER WHO WINS
As a non-partisan race, School Board elections are held during the August primaries. All county voters cast ballots for the School Board no matter their residence or party affiliation, but School Board candidates must live in the district for which they are seeking.
Three School Board seats were up for election this year, but two seats were unopposed. School Board District 4 incumbent Teri Barenborg won without opposition, as did political newcomer Ryan Matthews for the District 1 seat. District 1 incumbent Gene Posca did not seek reelection. School Board members are elected to four-year terms and are paid $45,788 annually.
