The latest Athlete of the Week poll presented by Florida Power & Light is dedicated to state champions, both track and field athletes who donned gold medals this past weekend and softball and baseball players still bidding for state titles with their respective programs.
Following Katie Eubanks’ win after helping the Fort Walton Beach girls tennis team advance to state, we have a talented mix of athletes bidding to join past winners Dawson Newnam, CJ Bolden, Jordan Figueroa, Chloe Bailey, Deacon Avery, Kase Armstrong, Dante Core, Izzy Harter, Carter Marracco, Belicia O’Grady, Carlos Ottoni, Carnley Summerlin, Ana Colon, Donovan Dark, Eddie Love Jr., Kane Lafortune, Justus Donahoo, Fred Libby, Camrin Pearson, Michelle Melancon, James Opitz, Hunter Tarchalski, Evelyn Brandman and Dylan Louthain.

Athlete of the Week Nominees
Chloe Bailey, Niceville: The sophomore struck out 10 and stranded four hits and a walk over seven innings of shutout ball to lead the Eagles to a 5-0 Region 1-5A semifinal win over Gulf Breeze.
Coleman Borthwick, South Walton: The junior hit a walkoff three-run homer to lift the Seahawks to a 4-2 win over Suwannee as they swept their way into the 4A state semifinals for the second straight year.
Rilyn Douglas, FWB: The junior struck out six and allowed a run on one hit and three walks in the Vikings’ 11-1 mercy-rule win over Menendez in the Region 1-4A quarterfinals. Douglas also helped out her own cause with an RBI hit and a run scored.
Jacob Kinkaid, Niceville: The junior pole vaulter cleared 14 feet, 9 inches to win the 3A state title.
Nathaniel “Nunu” Krider, Niceville: A week after setting the school record, the junior shot putter threw 59-2 to win the 3A state title.
Shelby Plasier, Niceville: The sophomore dominated the 3A javelin field, throwing 145-3 to win gold.
