Each week during the school year, The News-Press and the Naples Daily News select high school girls athletes who stood out the week before based on a combination of coach reports sent to sports@news-press.com and sports@naplesnews.com and school nominations sent over email. Those athletes are put in a poll each Monday on news-press.com and naplesnews.com, and you, our readers, vote on who you think did it best.
The winner of the Southwest Florida Girls Athlete of the Week poll sponsored by MY Shower Door will receive a T-shirt provided by BSN Sports and a tote bag provided by The News-Press and Naples Daily News. Voting ends at 10 a.m. Thursday each week. The winner will be announced on social media.
The previous SWFL Girls Athlete of the Week sponsored by MY Shower Door winner was Fort Myers girls lacrosse player Bonnie Mielke, who captured 68.96 percent of the vote.
