Rain, rain, go away, let the Texas Open play! The start of the 2026 Valero Texas Open was delayed 90 minutes by weather, forcing some players to finish their first rounds today before Round 2 gets underway.
Most of the field needs a win to qualify at the last minute for the Masters next week. Tony Finau, Davis Thompson and Will Zalatoris all got off to strong starts, with Sam Ryder, Christo Lamprecht, Austin Smotherman and Ryo Hisatsune also in good position after Round 1. Tommy Fleetwood already has his invitation to Augusta, but his bogey-free 5-under day has him near the top of the leaderboard entering today’s play.

Maverick McNealy and Marco Penge started their Masters warmup well, too. We’ll see which players looking to punch their ticket can avoid missing the cut and keep their hopes alive through the weekend in San Antonio.
