Florida State’s baseball season ended with a loss to the St. John’s Red Storm in the Tallahassee Regional final, but their season was incredibly successful, and the awards keep rolling in.
This season, FSU had two D1Baseball All-Americans, with pitchers Wes Mendes and John Abraham making the first and second team, respectively.
Mendes, for his efforts this season, was also the ACC Pitcher of the Year and a National Pitcher of the Year semifinalist. He was also named as a Second-Team All-American by the ABCA as well as by Baseball America. With 125 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.90 in 93 innings pitched, Mendes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound.
Abraham’s ERA of 1.91 in 47 innings pitched is also noteworthy; his 19 appearances contributed to an overall team WHIP of 1.26. He played 17 games in relief with a 1-1 record overall, but six saves. For his efforts, he was also named First Team Mid-season All-America by both Perfect Game and D1Baseball.
