Two Center Road traffic signals near Venice put on timing cycle due to equipment issues

The traffic signals for Center Road at Venice East Boulevard and at Rockley Boulevard south of Venice have been placed on a standard timing cycle by Sarasota County because of issues with newly installed detection equipment.

As a result, the lights are operating in a “recall” mode, which means they are cycling through all signal phases, even if no vehicles or pedestrians are present, according to a Sarasota County news release.

This “safe and temporary” measure may cause slight delays in the area.

Sarasota County workers are consulting with a contractor to resolve the hardware issue as quickly as possible.
