Weather has played havoc with the postseason softball schedule, as the Rams and Eagles do not have an off day between rounds.

Wednesday

Region 2-7A semifinal

No. 7 St. Lucie West Centennial 1, No. 3 St. Cloud 0: Make it back-to-back road upsets for the Eagles, who used a near no-hitter from Makayla Meganauth to advance to their second regional final in the last three years.

The freshman pitcher was outstanding in the circle, as she allowed just one hit and one walk with eight strikeouts through just 82 pitches.

She was also one of seven Centennial players to record a base hit as the visitors out-hit St. Cloud 8-1. Rayne Cohen was the only player with multiple hits as the sophomore drove in Emma Hazelton for the game’s only run in the fifth inning.

The Eagles (10-13) play at 7 p.m. Thursday at top-seeded Jupiter. The two teams played on April 21, with the Warriors coming away with a 19-2 victory.

The teams also played in the Region 2-7A Final in 2024, with Jupiter emerging with a 1-0 win in nine innings.

Region 4-5A semifinal

No. 1 Pembroke Pines Charter 7, No. 5 Legacy 1: The Lions’ terrific debut season came to a close after falling on the road against the Jaguars.

Legacy struck first with a run in the top of the third inning before the home team responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Pembroke Pines Charter scored in each of the next three innings.

Stats were unavailable for the Lions, who finished with a 13-8 record.

Region 4-2A semifinal

No. 5 John Carroll Catholic 14, No. 8 Cardinal Newman 4: Behind a walk-off homer from Sammi Rychter, the Rams advanced to their second regional final in the last three years after crushing the Crusaders at home. Visit TCPalm.com for a recap of this game.

Tuesday

Region 4-5A semifinal

No. 3 Sebastian River 8, No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas 4: The Sharks punched their ticket to their first regional final berth in program history after doubling up the Raiders in Fort Lauderdale.

Trailing 1-0 through two innings, Sebastian River (17-6) took the lead with two runs in the third inning before tacking on a run in the fourth, two more in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.

As was the case in their regional quarterfinal win, the Sharks advanced with the help of the long ball. Rily Biggers cracked a home run as part of an 11-hit attack. The senior had two RBIs, walked twice and scored three times.

Elsewhere, Grasyie Hillyer went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Alexa Pittman went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored while Madisyn Darling drove in two runs.

That was more than enough offense for Gabrielle Espich. The senior went the distance, allowing just one earned run on eight hits and a walk with five strikeouts. She also contributed to her cause with two hits at the plate.

Sebastian River plays at 7 p.m. Thursday at top-seeded Pembroke Pines Charter.

Region 4-1A semifinal

No. 1 Schoolhouse Prep 2, No. 4 Master’s Academy: The Patriots’ bats were silenced in a loss against the top-seeded Wolfpack in Miami.

Master’s Academy, who suffered its fourth shutout this season, was limited to three base hits by the duo of Cecilia Valdes and Analys Uriarte. Valdes started the game, relinquishing three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts through six scoreless innings. Uriarte collected the save by fanning the side in the seventh.

Elyanah DeCosta, Scarlett Grall and Alison Viersma each had a hit for the Patriots (19-8). DeCosta’s base hit was a triple while Grall and Viersma each added a walk.

Aubrey Grall took the loss in the circle despite a solid effort. The sophomore gave up five hits and a walk with five strikeouts through six innings. Neither of the two runs she allowed were earned.

Master’s Academy is set to lose four seniors due to graduation: DeCosta, Viersma, Abigayle Parrott and Kate Kelly.
