In 2023, Netflix released a spinoff of its reality show “The Ultimatum” with a twist: all of the couples were queer. Now, two years later, season two of “The Ultimatum: Queer Love,” is scheduled to drop.
“‘The Ultimatum: Queer Love’ makes one thing abundantly clear: Straight couples don’t have a monopoly on commitment issues,” Netflix announced in May. “Brace yourself for even more dating chaos, because the experiment is about to return for Season 2.”

If you’re unfamiliar, “The Ultimatum” shows follow couples – each with one person who’s ready to get engaged and one person who’s hesitant – who must decide to either get married or break up.
To test their relationships, each person pairs up with a person from one of the other couples for a “trial marriage.” At the end of the trial, they decide if they want to return to their partner and take the next step in their relationship, continue a relationship with their trial partner or leave the show alone.

Who is the host of ‘The Ultimatum: Queer Love’?
Actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher – of “Sweet Magnolias,” “Gossip Girl” and “Reba” fame – is returning as the host of “The Ultimatum: Queer Love.”
“I loved the idea of hosting a show, but when it was an opportunity to help tell this story of celebrating queer love, I thought, ‘Yes, this is the right moment’ and I just jumped in with two feet,” Garcia Swisher told Netflix.
“We cannot ignore the importance of celebrating queer relationships. There are incredible complexities and nuances to them that should be respected, but in many ways, they’re exactly the same as a non-queer relationship. We all deserve our happy ending — whatever that looks like.”
