After multiple delays, a SpaceX rocket sent a new batch of the company’s Starlink satellites to orbit just before noon on Tuesday.
The rocket lifted off 11:58 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The Falcon 9 climbed into the bright sky without generating Brevard County sonic booms, as the first-stage booster later landed on a SpaceX drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean.
The launch was Florida’s 51st rocket launch of the year, trailing far behind the pace 2025’s record 109 launches.
When is the next SpaceX launch from Florida?
The next rocket launch from Florida is planned for no earlier than 9:12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 from Launch Complex 40 in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will deliver the Globalstar 2-R missions to orbit.
The launch will be worth staying up for, as SpaceX only has a 15-minute window during which the launch can be made. The rocket’s first stage booster will land back at Landing Zone 40 near the launch pad, sounding a Brevard County sonic boom.
