Snow flurries and bitter cold was top of mind for many Florida residents and visitors over the weekend.
Several cities smashed record low temperatures Saturday night/Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service Melbourne posted on X before sunrise Monday, Feb. 2, more daily and monthly cold records have already been broken this morning.
Some people took to social media to describe an “iguanapopcalyse.” When temperatures hit the 40s, iguanas become paralyzed and fall from roofs and trees.

YouTube live streamers showed images of people huddled in coats, hats and gloves at Orlando’s theme parks.
Not only were air temperatures breaking records, but strong winds sent wind chills into single digits for some locations.
The good news is that Monday morning Feb. 2 could be the final day of the most extreme cold, according to AccuWeather forecasters, although more record low temperatures are possible both Monday and Tuesday.
The National Weather Service Melbourne warned freezing temperatures and frost will return Monday night.
Florida cities break record low temperatures over the weekend
Several Florida cities broke record low temperatures Saturday night/Sunday morning, with more records possible Monday morning, Feb. 2.
The National Weather Service Melbourne, which covers east and central Florida from Daytona Beach to Stuart and as far west as Orlando, said “all of our climate sites set new record lows for the date Feb. 1 and most even set new monthly record lows for February!”

Several National Weather Service offices around the state confirmed snow flurries were reported in several locations over the weekend, even as far south as Naples.
