Rockledge motorcyclist, 54, killed in two-vehicle crash, FHP reports

A 54-year-old Rockledge man was killed Sunday afternoon, April 12, when his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Chamberlan Terrace.

Troopers said the driver of a 2015 Ford F-150, an 83-year-old Barefoot Bay man, was stopped at a stop sign, facing east, as a southbound 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle approached the intersection in the inside lane.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist was traveling above the posted speed limit as the truck driver attempted a left turn turn and entered the motorcycle’s direct path.

As a result, the left front of the truck struck the front of the motorcycle, said troopers responding at 2:16 p.m. The Rockledge man was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not transported for treatment and remain on the scene, troopers said.

The names of the motorists were not immediately released by Florida Highway Patrol.

An investigation is underway.
