The Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida recently renovated its resource center to better serve the community.
Known as the Harper Foundation Resource Center, it was made possible through a $25,000 grant from the Daniel R. & Anne M. Harper Foundation.
The resource center has transformed the way Children’s Advocacy Center delivers critical services to children and families impacted by abuse, neglect and crisis.
In a statement, Alicia Shannon, the advocacy center’s CEO, decsribed the renovated space as a “symbol of compassion in action.”
“Thanks to the Harper Foundation, we have essential items right here on site and can respond instantly when a family needs support, removing one more barrier during an already overwhelming time,” she said.
The resource center provides clothing, shoes, hygiene products, diapers, and other basic necessities to families during their visits.
Previously, help was limited due to a lack of onsite storage for supplies.
The renovation completed by Stevens Construction converted underutilized space into a welcoming, organized supply center at the center’s headquarters, off Evans Avenue in Fort Myers.
Founded in 1981, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida provides coordinated services to child victims of abuse and neglect, serving over 6,000 children annually across Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Charlotte counties. All services are offered at no cost.
