Matt Fitzpatrick separated himself from the rest of the pack in the second round of the 2026 RBC Heritage on Friday.
Fitzpatrick, No. 7 in the world rankings, is No. 1 on the leaderboard in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, after his 8-under, bogey-free 63 in Round 2. He is one shot better than Viktor Hovland, who followed Thursday’s 63 with a 65 on Friday for 13 under for the tournament.
Saturday’s Round 3 tees off extra early, and the final pairing, Fitzpatrick and Hovland, take for the first hole at 2 p.m. Eastern.
Being a Signature Event, there is no cut this week. So the usual pressure of getting in the money for the weekend is not prevalent for any of the 84 players.
The total payouts for this event will be $20 million, with the winner taking home $3.6 million.
