Pregnant Pensacola woman loses baby in crash when driver ran red light

A Pensacola woman’s baby died in utero Wednesday after a driver ran a red light and T-boned the woman’s vehicle, Pensacola police announced Thursday.

According to a PPD release March 19, officers conducted a traffic crash investigation at the intersection of North Ninth Avenue and Bayou Boulevard after a driver traveling southbound on Ninth Avenue ran a red light and hit the woman March 18.

“The female, who was pregnant, was transported to the hospital,” the release said. “Her baby did not survive.”

The PPD is asking for anyone who may have seen a Chevrolet Truck speeding or driving recklessly near Ninth Avenue around 7 a.m. March 18 to contact the PPD at 850-435-1946 or call Crime Stoppers at 850-433-STOP.

Charges are pending against the driver, per the PPD.
