Polk County sheriff's K9 wounded, suspect killed in Kathleen shooting

A Polk County Sheriff’s Office K9 was shot and a suspect was killed during a deputy-involved shooting incident in the Kathleen area the evening of Aug. 6.

The K9 is being treated at an emergency veterinarian clinic, PCSO said in a news release.

Sheriff Grady Judd was expected the brief the media at 9:30 p.m. from a site near the scene.

The 10th Judicial Circuit Officer Involved Deadly Incident Task Force is investigating the shooting.

No deputies were injured.
