The Jacksonville Jaguars have concluded the second day of training camp, and a familiar face has emerged as a second-day standout. Parker Washington impressed on the field, further cementing his status as one of quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s favorite targets.
Washington had a breakout season in 2025, passing the 100-yard receiving mark in three of the Jaguars’ final four games. During that second half of the season, Washington emerged as a go-to target for Lawrence and proved that he can be a reliable and versatile target in the pass game, who brings an added YAC presence to the offense.
Judging by his performance at training camp, he shows no sign of slowing down, either, as SI.com’s John Shipley noted he was the best player on offense today, saying he had multiple big catches in an offense that overall was explosive and productive.
[H]is most impressive plays came on the sideline when it was clear that him and Trevor Lawrence are in a great place in terms of chemistry. Lawrence has thrown to Washington longer than any other target at the top of the receiver depth chart, and it showed.
Shipley wrote that Washington had a sideline catch against cornerback Keni-H Lovely and then an impressive grab on a downfield throw that he went up to catch with Montaric Brown in coverage.
In an interview after the first day of training camp, Lawrence praised Washington’s versatility and toughness, noting he can easily break tackles.
“Obviously the YAC he’s able to create is impressive, but I mean, he also is good enough down the field to where he’s not just an underneath intermediate guy,” Lawrence said. “He can run the whole route tree. I think that’s what really makes him dangerous, is because he can go over the top too. But I would say, obviously, underneath, when he catches a ball and the ball is in his hand, there aren’t many guys who can tackle him.”
Washington has built strong chemistry with Lawrence, and putting together a strong performance at training camp will send the right message, as he is currently entering the final year of his rookie deal, as a prime contract extension candidate.
