The first heat advisory of the year in Lee County was issued this morning by the National Weather Service with heat indexes up to 110 expected today, June 18.
The advisory will started at 11 a.m. and will expire by 7 p.m. The actual air temperature will hover in the mid-90s for the entire day, but the humidity levels will push the “feels like” temperature to dangerous highs that could cause heat illness.
NWS recommends avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during the heat advisory and staying hydrated.
Heat advisories for Collier, Charlotte, DeSoto, Hendry and Glades County were also issued for the day.
