Game two didn’t last as long as game one on the first day of the NCAA Softball tournament.
Following the Auburn-USF game that went to extra innings, Florida State softball lasted only five innings after a 10-1 victory over Robert Morris in front of a 1,392 crowd in the Seminole Softball Complex.
FSU will continue in the winning bracket, facing USF on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Pioneers will then take on Auburn in the elimination game at 3:30 p.m.
Isa Torres set the tone with a triple and a one-run score to put FSU on the board in its opening inning. However, it was not until the bottom third that the Seminoles produced five runs on four hits and an error.
Torres went 2 of 3 at-bats. Katie Dack, Hallie Wacaser, Annie Potter, and Jaysoni Beachum earned an RBI during that inning.
FSU added four more in the next inning, bringing the Seminoles’ total to 10 runs. Two came from Beachum’s RBI double. Beachum finished with three RBI. The Pioneers scored one run in the top of the fifth due to a field error.
Annabelle Widra started as a pitcher for the Seminoles and played through three innings. Julia Apsel relieved Widra in the fourth and finished the day with three strikeouts. Widra became the winning pitcher.
