A New Smyrna Beach woman was arrested on allegations she stole more than $16,000 from the Schooner Point Condominiums, her employer, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said.
Natalie Monroe, 29, was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on Monday, Dec. 1, where she was being held Tuesday, Dec. 2, on $112,500 bail.
Monroe was charged with 16 counts of forging a check and other crimes, including grand theft of more than $750 but less than $5,000.
On Monday, Dec. 1, around 11:09 a.m., a property manager of the Schooner Point Condominiums reported that over the course of last month, he noticed that $16,582.24 was missing from several accounts the business owned, investigating deputies said.
The property manager handed the investigating deputy 17 checks that were forged and cashed by Monroe, who was employed at the condos, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.
Deputies made contact with Monroe, and after she was arrested. She confessed to the theft and forgery charges, deputies said.
