Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill says he's undecided on if he'll play again or retire

Tyreek Hill hasn’t decided if he’s done with football but may have hinted that he’s considering retirement when he said he’s enjoying newfound time with his family.

Hill, the Miami Dolphins’ receiver who is out for the season after suffering a severe leg injury, spoke on the podcast of ex-teammate Terron Armstead, “The Set,” but couldn’t confirm if he has played his last down.

“Right now, I’m happy with being with my kids,” Hill said. “I’m happy with the career that I’ve had and I love playing football. I love it. But it, man, but it takes a lot, man, to be the best and to stay at the top. …

“And I’m at the point now where I need to have a conversation with Mom, family, everybody. Like I said, wherever my mind is at the time, the decision to be made, but I just know right now I feel like I haven’t had time to just live in the moment, and just be in the moment with my family.”

He added, “I think that’s the appropriate answer for something like that. I don’t want to make any rash decisions.”

Hill, 31, was injured against the New York Jets on “Monday Night Football” on Sept. 29. He underwent season-ending surgery to repair his left knee, including an ACL tear and dislocated kneecap.

What was he thinking when he was carted off the field?

“You know the crazy part about it? When I got tackled, I tried to get up. … And I seen that my leg was crooked.

“I immediately started laughing.”

Why?

“I really wasn’t thinking about the injury. I was thinking about the great times I’ve had playing this game. And just me being in Miami. I was just happy, bro. Like, because I’m always trying to find the good in everything.”

Hill said while he was still on the field, he began thinking about the additional time he’ll have with his kids.

“I’m looking at this as an opportunity for me to get closer to my kids. … So far, two weeks away from surgery, I’m having a blast, man. I’m having a blast with my kids.”

Hill said, “Scoring touchdowns, that (bleep) feels great, that feels amazing.” But, he added, “I want to be remembered as, like, the greatest dad ever.”

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said following the surgery went “very well” and no further operations would be necessary.

Hill’s contract with the Dolphins runs through the 2027 season but as it is currently structured, he would count almost $52 million against the 2026 salary cap.
