Authorities have arrested a man who they suspected of a public bludgeoning death and ran from the scene earlier Thursday.
The Fort Myers Police Department has confirmed that a woman was killed outside the D & D convenience store at 3500 Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. on April 2.
The suspect had remained on the loose by 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The police department asked the community to be aware of the man and to call 911 immediately if anyone saw him.
“Do not approach and do not open your door for this individual,” police said.
In photos from the police department, the suspect appears to be wearing a yellow graphic T-shirt, black shorts, a gray backpack and yellow sneakers.
By late afternoon, police updated their social media saying they arrested the suspect.
