A man has been arrested on a first-degree murder charge in connection with a homicide investigation in southwest Leon County, but authorities are releasing almost no details about the case.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday afternoon that they made the arrest after detectives began investigating a reported homicide on Saturday. Investigators later obtained an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Luis Olla-Hernandez, who was arrested and booked Sunday into the Leon County Detention Facility on a charge of first-degree murder.
Beyond identifying the suspect and the charge, the Sheriff’s Office disclosed almost no information about the case.
The agency did not identify the rough age or gender of the victim. An LCSO spokesperson said that is part of the investigation.
The agency also did not disclose when the homicide took place. The Tallahassee Police Department typically announces homicide investigations on social media hours after they take place.
An LCSO spokesperson also could not release the city block the homicide occurred on, describe how the victim died, provide a motive or any circumstances of the case. Authorities also did not indicate whether Olla-Hernandez knew the victim.
“This is still a very active investigation, and we hope to release more details tomorrow,” LCSO spokesperson Shonda Knight told the Democrat, while adding that releasing details could impact the unfolding investigation.
Court records and arrest reports were not immediately available Sunday.

“No additional details about the circumstances of the homicide are being released at this time,” LCSO wrote in a news release.
