A 52-year-old Leesburg man has died following a late-night pedestrian accident.
According to Lt. Shannon Walsh, spokesperson for the Leesburg Police Department, interviews are being conducted, and a toxicology exam is underway.
Where and when did the accident happen?
The crash occurred at approximately 8:37 p.m. April 28 on Citrus Boulevard, just north of North Shore Drive.
Who was involved?
According to preliminary reports from the Leesburg Police Department, a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling northbound in the outside lane when it struck a pedestrian, later identified as Matthew Davis.
The vehicle was operated by 66-year-old Henry Rolle, also a resident of Leesburg.
Emergency response and aftermath?
First responders from Lake County Fire Rescue and the Leesburg Fire Department treated Davis at the scene for life-threatening injuries. He was later transported to UF Health Leesburg Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
After the accident, authorities closed the northbound lanes of Citrus Boulevard for roughly four hours to conduct a thorough on-scene investigation. The roadway was reopened late Tuesday night.

Yes. The Leesburg Police Department Traffic Unit is currently leading the investigation into the circumstances of the crash. As of April 29, no charges have been announced.
