The moment of Antonio Brown walking off MetLife Field, with no shirt or jersey on, as the offense was working on the opposite side, will live rent-free in their heads forever.
The Bucs were expected to be well on their way to repeating as Super Bowl champions up to that point. For Lavonte David, the days leading up to that game should have let the team know that they were in store something bad. As David tells it during a spot on The Rush with Maxx Crosby, Brown had moments during warm-ups for that game.
“Mike Evans got hurt, Chris Godwin was hurt. AB was like they need me now. During the walk-through, he was cursing the coaches and the players out.”
The fallout from that moment and that game was everlasting.
Antonio Brown would never play in the NFL again, thus ending what was a Hall of Fame career path. For the Bucs, they would lose in their first playoff game and their Super Bowl window has been closed, or barely open, ever since.
