Pensacola Police believe the fatal Langley Avenue shooting Oct. 19 that killed a 21-year-old man could be a Stand Your Ground case.
PPD responded to Langley Avenue Sunday night after getting a 911 call that someone had been shot in the 1000 block of Langley Avenue. When they arrived they they found two people with injuries.
Police later said that Jamir Jackson, 21, of Pensacola died at the hospital from gunshot wounds.
Follow up information released by PPD said an investigation discovered that the second man had been “pistol whipped” at some point while Jackson had been shot. The second man has not been identified.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the incident may constitute a Stand Your Ground case,” a release said. “Detective are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.”
An investigation remains ongoing. The PPD said there is no threat to the community.
