Lake County sites to air on national TV this Sunday

A Discovery Channel RV travel series made a fun stop in Lake County mid-January, and the episode airs this Sunday, Aug. 9.

“RV There Yet?” features Patrice and Kevin McCabe exploring the U.S. in their Winnebago, seeking out national parks and hidden gems from coast to coast and just about anything else that’s experiential and outdoors-oriented.

“This charming slice of ‘Old Florida’ is a place our family and friends have been telling us to visit for years,” Kevin posted on the “RV There Yet?” Facebook post.

“Somehow, we never made the time to explore it because it just seemed too close to home. Turns out … we couldn’t have been more wrong!”

Their series is in its fifth season and can be seen on the Discovery Channel, YouTube and the FanDuel Sun Network, as well as their website, rvthereyettv.com.

“We started RVing for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest (especially for Patrice) is that she’s just not a good flier,” Kevin added in the post. “She just doesn’t enjoy flying.”

Their crew, who’s from the Lake County area (and works on LakeFront TV, the City of Leesburg’s channel), suggested kicking off the episode with a sunset seaplane cruise in Tavarares, known as the Seaplane Capital of the World.

Along with taking to the sky in seaplanes for the Harris Chain of Lakes Sunset Celebration, they visited Lakeridge Winery, picked some strawberries at Southern Hill Farms, and went fishing with Capt. Tim Frederick.

Fishermen’s Cove in Tavares was their temporary home while in Lake County, which they enjoyed, along with boating the Dora Canal with CatBoat Adventures, off-roading with Revolution Adventures, and enjoying grouper bites at Lake Harris Hideaway in Tavares

See the show Sunday, Aug. 9, at 8:30 a.m. on Discovery. Episodes uploaded the same day to rvthereyettv.com and RV There Yet’s YouTube page.
