An aging shopping plaza in Jupiter is getting a makeover.
The new owners of The Shoppes at Jupiter will bring a Whole Foods Market and a Total Wine & More store to the nearly 50-year-old plaza at U.S. 1 and Indiantown Road across from Harbourside Place, according to documents filed with the town.
Ram Realty Advisors of Palm Beach Gardens paid more than $52 million to buy the property in 2025 and hopes to start work on the changes later this year. It presented its plans to the Town Council on July 21. The council postponed a vote that night, saying it wanted more information about traffic at the intersection and what the plaza would look like.
“This is such a major transition for a part of town that hasn’t been looked at in a long time with a lot of traffic impacts,” said council member Malise Sundstrom during the July 21 council meeting. “We have to get this right because this will impact circulation. This is our beach. This is our inlet village. It is the gateway to the beach in a way.”
Here are five things to know about the changes coming to the plaza.
What new stores are opening at the Shoppes at Jupiter?
Whole Foods Market and Total Wine & More are coming to the plaza.
During the July 21 meeting, Brian Maloney, Ram’s chief retail officer, hinted at what the other new stores might include. He said that “other small-shop tenants” will open between mid-2027 to mid-2028 and that the owner wants to downsize the movie theater to make more room for stores.
The owner is in discussions with a coffee shop, a cosmetics retailer, fitness outlets and service businesses, he said.
“The proposed tenants will be similar to other grocery-anchored shopping centers you see in Chasewood or in Palm Beach Gardens or other parts of Palm Beach County,” Maloney said. “Retail is harder to get these days. The Gardens Mall ends up where people go, but I think we will have some kind of boutique retail, local-regional-operator-type retail.”
When are Whole Foods and Total Wine opening at the plaza?
Whole Foods is set to replace Beall’s in the spring of 2028.
Total Wine & More is set to replace the plaza’s long-time Staples outlet in late 2027.
Are Sephora, Free People and Cava coming to Jupiter?
The internet is buzzing with talk about what other stores might join the plaza.
Ram Realty Advisors of Palm Beach Gardens isn’t ready to say what other tenants might join them, but people on social media have ideas about what the upscale storefronts — Cava! Maman! What about Free People? — should be.
One of the longest rumored stores is RH (formerly Restoration Hardware), which shot down any talk that it planned to open a store in the plaza. A spokesperson for Cava said they don’t have concrete plans to share. Other cited possibilities online include Sephora, Madewell and Joe & the Juice.
At one point, the plaza’s owner had early discussions with the town about Lululemon and Ulta, but the town has not received any follow-up about those stores since then, according to Sundstrom.
What Jupiter stores have closed?
In recent months, the Palm Beach Sports Club gym and Soul Rebel cafe closed.
The cafe left just a notecard behind on its door with “That’s all folks” scribbled on it.
How is Jupiter changing?
Shopping plazas like this one are catering to higher-income patrons as the area takes on a ritzier identity.
Rebel Cook, a commercial real estate broker who works in West Palm Beach and northern Palm Beach County, said that the changes at Shoppes at Jupiter reflect how the town has turned into an “upper-middle-class enclave.”
“There are younger people (in their) 30s and 40s who are moving into the area to raise their family, but they are earning more money than they used to,” Cook said.
“Jupiter used to be a little bedroom community where blue-collar people moved and bought a little three-bedroom, two-bath house and had their pickup truck in front of the house and went to work every day. That doesn’t exist.”
