The Jacksonville Jaguars are on Monday Night Football. This time, they’re 3-1. Three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs (and maybe Taylor Swift?) are coming to town. All of that adds up to a huge night at EverBank Stadium. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m.
The Jaguars are coming in on a two-game winning streak after forcing four takeaways in a victory over formerly unbeaten San Francisco. Through four games, the Jags lead the NFL in turnover differential at plus-9.
Kansas City is bouncing back nicely from an 0-2 start with wins over the Giants and the Ravens. Mahomes passed for 270 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s 37-20 victory over Baltimore, announcing to the NFL that the Chiefs are far from finished. Tackling, tackling, tackling. The Jaguars aren’t doing it well, and Patrick Mahomes is in control, leading a 97-yard march down the field and capping it with a 9-yard scramble for the score. A Kareem Hunt run and a 34-yard connection from Mahomes to Tyquan Thornton highlighted the march. That’s 234 yards already for Kansas City.

Inches away. Trevor Lawrence went for the QB sneak on fourth and goal from the inch line, and reached over the pile — only for Kansas City’s Nick Bolton to slap the ball away. After review, officials ruled that Lawrence, who had been narrowly denied at the sideline on the previous play, lost possession before breaking the plane. The Jaguars aren’t happy about that one. At the end of a long drive that included a Tyquan Thornton catch on a high floating pass, Patrick Mahomes found Travis Kelce with a 2-yard TD pass. Just one issue: The Jags appealed for offensive pass interference on what they considered an illegal pick by JuJu Smith-Schuster. Officials threw the flag, then picked it up. The TD stands.

A year ago through four games, the Jacksonville Jaguars were the NFL’s only winless team and already headed toward sweeping changes by ownership.
Now? Through the first four games, the Jaguars are 3-1, and are tied with Indianapolis for the AFC South lead. They have one of the league’s best running games and they do have the league’s best takeaway unit.

A dropped pass from receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and a defensive pass interference penalty on rookie two-way player Travis Hunter sunk the team as they tried to stave off a Joe Burrow-less Bengals team.
