Jacob Curry selects SEC college football destination. Where's the Super 11 Nease LB going?

Nease’s Jacob Curry is planning to board the Sooner Schooner.

The senior linebacker and safety announced his commitment to Oklahoma football, less than a month after ending his Northwestern commitment. Curry, standing 6-1, 200, is a four-star prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings.

A member of the Times-Union Super 11 and the St. Augustine Record defensive player of the year in 2024, Curry recorded 101 tackles, eight sacks, seven pass breakups and two forced fumbles as a junior while helping the Panthers to an unbeaten regular season.

This year, to date, he has 65 tackles with four for loss and two sacks on a Nease team ranked among the Florida High School Athletic Association contenders for Class 6A.

The Panthers’ linebacker combination of Curry, Kru Casey, Noah Hodge and Kyle Hurtado has combined for more than 30 tackles for loss, and the USA TODAY Florida Network highlighted Curry among the prospects who have improved their recruiting stock significantly during 2025.

Curry becomes the second Super 11 prospect from St. Johns County in the 2026 class to select the Sooners after Creekside defensive lineman Brian Harris committed to Oklahoma in May.

Oklahoma traditionally made little impact in Northeast Florida football recruiting, but that has changed since Union County defensive tackle Markus Strong signed with the Sooners in the 2022 early signing period.
