Travis Hunter had his heaviest day of work in the preseason for the Jacksonville Jaguars during their mock game on Aug. 7 at the Miller Electric Center.
And as has been the case, he got more snaps on defense than on offense … double, in fact.
Hunter’s defensive snaps in 11-on-11 periods and the mock game have been 55 percent of his total plays. Read what you will into that, and the Jaguars’ plans for the regular season.
Hunter also got his first carry from scrimmage during the preseason. During a possession in the second of two quarters in the mock game, Hunter took the ball from Trevor Lawrence on a jet sweep, going right to left, and picked up 10 yards from the 17-yard line to the 7.
After an incomplete pass and a 4-yard run by Chris Rodriguez, Lawrence threw a 3-yard TD pass to Parker Washington.
Hunter was targeted by Lawrence on one pass on an earlier possession in the red zone. Cornerback Devon Marshall broke up the first-down throw over the middle.

How many snaps did Travis Hunter have in the Jaguars mock game?
Hunter had seven offensive snaps and 14 on defense. He didn’t have any defensive stats but continued to cover well in man or zone. His 21 combined snaps are the most in a single practice this season, topping the 18 he had on July 31.
For the season, Hunter has 42 offensive snaps and 65 defensive snaps, for a total of 107 in 11-on-11 team periods and the simulated game. Counting 12 snaps in 7-on-7 periods, he has 47 on offense and 72 on defense for a total of 119.
Hunter has six receptions and one carry from scrimmage on offense, and has an interception and two other passes defensed on defense.
