Tool and equipment retailer Harbor Freight is opening a new location on the Treasure Coast, with construction underway at the storefront on 2125 S. Federal Highway in Fort Pierce.
The store is expected to open this fall, with an expected opening date set for November, according to the Harbor Freight website. It will be in Gateway Plaza, a plaza built in 1969.

“We’ve been looking to open a location in Fort Pierce for a number of years so that we can provide the tools and equipment at tremendous values to the community,” Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Construction for Harbor Freight Trey Feiler said in a statement. “In addition to finding a great location, we were attracted by the availability of great associates in the Fort Pierce area, and we look forward to having them join the Harbor Freight team.”
Harbor Freight sells high-quality tools, machinery, power tools and other equipment at lower prices, according to the company website.
The company was established almost 50 years ago, in 1977, in Southern California. Since then, the company has opened over 1,600 stores across the nation.
This will be the fifth Harbor Freight location on the Treasure Coast, with stores in Jensen Beach, Sebastian, Stuart and Vero Beach.
Gateway Plaza previously was anchored by an 88,732-square-foot Kmart that opened in 1976 and closed in 2017, TCPalm previously reported.
