Peller Alwill and Aggi Hall, two local and state roofing industry veterans, are heading up the Space Coast Council of National Women in Roofing (NWIR), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower and advance women across all areas of the roofing industry through education, leadership development, networking, and mentorship.
“For more than 10 years, NWIR has demonstrated strong leadership and community involvement within the roofing industry, helping create opportunities for professional growth while strengthening industry standards nationwide,” said Hall, vice President of the Space Coast chapter. “Today, the organization is more than 1,000 members strong across the country, and we are proud to present the Space Coast with the newest chapter of this growing national organization,” added Alwill, President of the Space Coast chapter.
While NWIR focuses on creating opportunities for women, the organization also values the support and partnership of male industry professionals who play an essential role in building a stronger, more unified workforce.
With June marking the start of hurricane season in Florida, the Space Coast Council of NWIR is on a mission to help prepare the local community through education, outreach, and industry collaboration. The organization encourages homeowners, roofing professionals, contractors, suppliers, and local vendors to get involved with the new chapter as they work to make a positive impact throughout the Space Coast community.
“Our goal is to create meaningful community involvement through educational events, networking opportunities, and hurricane preparedness awareness,” Hall said. “We want to help connect trusted professionals and resources with the local community while continuing to elevate the roofing industry.”
The organization held its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, June 3rd, in Melbourne at Glam Culture. Follow their social media pages for future events and opportunities to get involved as a member. Vendor and sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses looking to support the chapter and connect with the community.

Margaritaville hotel project to break ground in July
Compass by Margaritaville will have a groundbreaking event for its hotel project in Cape Canaveral on July 13.
The 150-room hotel will be at 8955 Columbia Road.
Scheduled to open in early 2027 in Cape Canaveral, the hotel will boast luxury suites, two bar areas and a roof-top observation deck. The hotel is expected to employee 80-90 people.
The properties in Compass by Margaritaville are part of the licensing empire established by famed singer Jimmy Buffett who died nearly three years ago. That empire includes restaurants, hotels, resorts and cruise ships.
Coincidentally, the Cape Canaveral hotel will be just off State Road A1A, which in 2024 was officially designated by the state as the Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway.
