Godby's Jamarin Simmons voted Big Bend football's top WR for 2026

The Big Bend has spoken ― and cast their votes.

Jamarin ‘Waffle House’ Simmons is predicted to be the area’s top wide receiver for the 2026 high school football season. Simmons, a five-star recruit and Clemson Tigers commit, will be a senior at Tallahassee’s Amos P. Godby High School this fall.

He won the vote, held from July 14 to July 21, earning 6,448 votes, which accounted for 41.89% of the poll. Maclay School’s Henry Richardson racked up 5,930 votes, 38.52%. Lincoln High School’s Jayden Jean, who transferred from Wakulla this offseason, rounded out the top three with 1,580 votes, 10.26%.

Simmons’ prediction comes after he was picked as a Tallahassee Democrat All-Big Bend first-team receiver. The newly-signed Nike athlete was one of the Big Bend’s top reception and yardage getters for the Godby Cougars in 2025.

At 5-foot-11, 165 pounds, his final act in high school starts on Friday, Aug. 14, against the Florida High School Seminoles.
