FSU's Tony White says pair of DL were 'very disruptive' in scrimmage

The Florida State football defense improved under Tony White in 2025, but they need to take another step in 2026 for the Seminoles to accomplish their goals. Arguably the biggest area of concern with the group is along the defensive line, specifically their ability to pressure the quarterback.

FSU made several moves to shore up their pass-rush this offseason, with the two biggest additions being Rylan Kennedy and Jalen Aderson. The duo had their first chance to show what they can do in a game setting on Tuesday, and both impressed White with their disruptiveness during FSU’s first scrimmage.

“Very disruptive. Exactly what you want in those guys,” he said. “Twitchy, you let them loose and they’re in the backfield. They’re either in the backfield or they’re taking up two blocks because they’re penetrating so deep. So they’ve done a nice job of learning the concepts.”

Kennedy spent the past three years with the Texas A&M Aggies, playing in 37 games and making one start as a rotational player. He recorded 40 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and four pass breakups. While he graded out well in limited snaps, he will be looking to take another step for the Seminoles.

Anderson was one of the top JUCO players in the country when he signed with FSU. While the junior is still developing, he has an impressive motor and plenty of potential. He finished his time at Pearl River with 80 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 20.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions in 18 games.
