Florida State football brings a two-game losing skid into today’s game against Pittsburgh, needing to break the slide to keep their hopes of an ACC championship appearance alive.
FSU fell to 3-2 after their first two conference games of 2025: a shocking double-overtime loss at Virginia and a 28-22 loss to No. 3 Miami in which the Seminoles’ fourth-quarter comeback came up short. FSU’s third-ranked offense (560.8 yards per game) outgained the rival Hurricanes 404-338 and ran for 132 yards on one of the nation’s top rush defenses with quarterback Tommy Castellanos totaling 329 yards.
They’ll see another of the best run-stopping units in 3-2 Pitt, which ranks second in allowing 64.6 ypg. The Panthers’ offense also ranks highly at 41 points per game (12th) and got revitalized by putting in freshman QB Mason Heintschel, who went 30 of 41 for 323 yards and four touchdowns in his first career start last week vs. Boston College.
