FSU transfer commit ranked as No. 3 left-handed pitcher

The FSU baseball program has added three transfers so far this offseason, and Cayden Suchy is ranked among ESPN’s best players to enter the transfer portal.

ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel ranked the top 60 players in the portal, focusing on pro potential, not what they are likely to do at their new school. Those things tend to be closely related, but not always the same.

He has ranked Suchy as the No. 19 player overall and No. 3 left-handed pitcher in the portal. He is placed in the 40 FV tier, which McDaniel uses for prospects he thinks will be taken in the third or fourth rounds of the draft.

Suchy started his career with the UConn Huskies and is coming off a breakout sophomore season where he was named the Big East Pitcher of the Year. He went 5-3 with a 2.72 ERA over 89.1 innings, finishing with 105 strikeouts. He held opponents to a .231 batting average, walking 23 and hitting four in 15 starts.

He will be eligible for the 2027 MLB Draft and is looking like the ace of next year’s staff. The 6-foot, 192-pounder routinely worked deep into games, pitching 6.0 or more innings in 10 of his starts and throwing one complete game.
