FSU offers 5-star OT committed to Big Ten program

The Florida State Seminoles are going after some of the top players in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and they just added an elite talent to their offensive tackle board. They extended a scholarship offer to Layton von Brandt on Friday.

He is a five-star prospect from Middletown, Delaware, and is currently committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Von Brandt committed to Penn State in November of 2024 on a visit to Penn State, but the Seminoles, and several other programs, are looking to flip him. They will have plenty of time to try and pull it off, as he can not sign for over a year.

Von Brandt is ranked as the No. 28 overall player and No. 5 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 1 player from Delaware. He has never visited Tallahassee, and the Seminoles will need to change that to have a shot at landing him.

Florida State has a top 5 recruiting class in 2027, but they are looking for their first commitment along the offensive line, an area that new offensive line coach Herb Hand is looking to improve in. While they have four offensive line commits in the 2026 cycle, Da’Ron Parks is the only blue-chip prospect.
