Florida State baseball’s ACC Tournament quarterfinal against Pitt has been delayed as storms move over the Charlotte, North Carolina, area.
The No. 3 seed Seminoles (38-16, 19-11 ACC) were scheduled to start at 3 p.m. against No. 14 seed Pitt from Truist Field, but rain has forced the game into a delay. This is the second schedule change, as first pitch was initially scheduled for 7 p.m., but was moved up to the late afternoon to try and beat the weather.
No updated first pitch time has been given. According to AccuWeather, storms are expected to continue throughout the night in the Charlotte metro area, which could lead to further alterations to the Seminoles and Panthers showdown.
No. 14 seed Pitt beat No. 6 seed Wake Forest 7-4 on Wednesday, May 20, to book its spot in the quarterfinal rounds. FSU swept Pitt in the regular season, and Wes Mendes, who will start the quarterfinal, threw a complete game against the Panthers in the regular season.
The winner advances to the semifinals to face No. 2 North Carolina at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Tar Heels beat Virginia Tech 10-4 in the first game of the day in Charlotte to book a spot in the semifinals.
