Three wins down, two to go for Choctawhatchee football.
Now the Big Green spotlight welcomes the Final 4, second-seeded Choctaw (12-1) set to host third-seeded American Heritage (7-5) tonight for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Joe Etheredge Stadium. In the other 4A state semifinal, top-seeded Jones (11-2) welcomes fourth-seeded Port Charlotte (11-2).
For the Big Green, this is the fifth Final 4 appearance in program history. The first came in 1971, the next was state runner-up in 1977, the lone state title came from 1990 and the most recent happened in 2014, when Greg Thomas’ crew took a 13-0 Armwood team to the brink in a 19-15 loss at Joe Etheredge Stadium. American Heritage, meanwhile, has six state titles since 2013.
I’ll be at Joe Etheredge Stadium tonight, so follow me on X at @SethSnwfdn for score updates, stats, video and commentary. And follow our scoreboard below for updates on both 4A state semifinal matchups.
