Since Florida’s “super speeder” law took effect July 1, several arrests have been made on the Treasure Coast.
The law targets drivers who go 50 mph or more over the speed limit or drive over 100 mph in a manner that endangers others, according to Florida statutes. Penalties can include jail time, significant fines and a mandatory court hearing.
As of Jan. 26, the Treasure Coast has had six fatal crashes in 2026, which killed eight people. Two of the deadliest roads in Florida run through the Treasure Coast, according to an iSelect study.
