Autumn is in full force on the first high school football Friday of October. That might mean falling leaves and warmer coats elsewhere, but in Florida it just means we’re almost in the playoffs, which just got expanded.
Yep, it’s getting close to crunch time on the FHSAA schedule. But before district and regional finals give way to the state championships in November, there’s still plenty of action on football fields from Tampa to Jacksonville, from Orlando to Pensacola.
Fierce Miami rivals Central and Northwestern squared off, while IMG Academy faced a rare in-state opponent at Venice. Mainland and DeLand met in another local showdown, Cocoa traveled to Miami Norland, and Cardinal Mooney took on Clearwater Central Catholic.
