Florida girl, 12, met 19-year-old on TikTok; he's arrested after she went missing

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 6 issued a media statement about an arrest related to an encounter between an adult and a Paisley child.

According to the report, Lake County deputies responded to a call from a residence in Paisley, in northern Lake County, after a 12-year-old girl was reported missing. The girl had departed from the residence during the night, taking personal belongings.

Based on prior knowledge of the girl’s history and information that was gathered on scene, deputies determined that she had met a 19-year-old man, Alex Lindsley, on TikTok. Lindsley resides in Illinois and had recently traveled from there to meet the girl, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives responded to the scene and investigated, confirming that Linsdley was driving a silver Dodge truck with a temporary tag attached. This was verified through a previous traffic stop in Illinois for reckless driving.

The sheriff’s office says detectives tracked the truck using License Plate Reader cameras. If a plate matches a record in the database, including a suspect’s vehicle or a missing person’s vehicle, law enforcement is alerted.

The truck was stopped in Laurens County, Georgia, on Feb. 5. The girl was recovered safely and Lindsley was arrested on a charge of interfere with custody of minor/incompetent.
