A fire the afternoon of Aug. 16 at the Sovana at Stuart apartment complex caused no injuries and was contained to just one apartment, according to Martin County Fire Rescue.
Martin County and Stuart fire rescue officials went to the scene in the 1900 bock of Northwest U.S. 1, which is on the west side of U.S. 1 just north of Northwest Buck Hendry Way, according to information from Jillian Kay, Martin County Fire Rescue spokesperson.
Kay reported the fire began just before 2 p.m. near a stove in an apartment.
“When crews arrived, the third-floor unit and hallway were filled with smoke,” Kay stated via text. “Crews quickly evacuated the building and extinguished the fire.”
No one was hurt.
Kay did not immediately respond the morning of Aug. 17 when TCPalm inquired about the cause of the fire.
Kay stated residents were permitted to go back to their apartments shortly after the fire was put out.
