A motorist was arrested after overturning his vehicle while attempting to flee from a state trooper, a Florida Highway Patrol news release said.
Tavares Shaquillee Amel Moses, 29, of Pensacola, was traveling on U.S. Highway 29 north of Nine Mile Road around 3:05 p.m., the release said.
The driver was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed in a mph zone, ana trooper activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver began slowing, then accelerated away, reaching speeds as high as 96 mph, the release said.
The driver then turned onto North Palafox Street, and lost control of his vehicle while trying to pass another vehicle on a curve. The driver crossed the oncoming traffic and traveled into the wood line, overturning his sedan.
The driver then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after the trooper deployed his stun gun, The driver received minor injuries during the crash and was transported to a local hospital as a precaution, according to the FHP release. The trooper was not injured.
